Protocol Title: Orthopedic Sports Surgeons' Recomendations in Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction
You are being invited to participate in a research study that is being conducted by Adam Yanke, MD, PhD. in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Rush University Medical Center.
The purpose of this survey is to determine how orthopedic sports surgeons approach anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction. On the following pages, you will be presented with cases of patients who sustained ACL injuries. Their clinic profiles will be displayed, including pertinent history, physical exam, and imaging. Please answer each question to reflect how you would manage the patients if they presented to your clinic. Please also answer all pre-survey and post-survey questions completely. We greatly appreciate your participation in this study.
Taking part in this study is completely voluntary. You do not have to participate in this study and may choose to leave the study at any time. If you decide not to participate in this study or leave the study at a later time, your health care, benefits, or relationship with Rush University Medical Center will not change or be affected.
If you agree to participate in this study, you will be asked to complete a one-time survey.
Part 1 will contain a short list of questions regarding your demographics and medical experience.
Part 2 will then ask you to complete a survey with 12 fictional clinical vignettes that present brief cases about patients of different ages that have sustained ACL ruptures.
There is a possibility that information collected from you for this study may be used for future research or shared with other researchers. If this happens, information which could identify you will be removed before it is shared. Since identifying information will be removed, you will not be asked for additional consent.
You may not directly benefit from taking part in this study, but we hope that knowledge gained from this study may benefit others in need of ACL reconstruction in the future.
There willl be no financial renumeration for participating in this study.
